Don't call it a curse

Have you ever been watching a game on sunday and just thought to yourself, why cant the browns have one player like that? It doesn't even have to be a football game this applies to basically all cleveland sports. Even when we try to get a player that has succeeded on another team he comes here and fails. I have a theory. When the people in charge of an organization don't know what there doing and there's just always a negative ora around the team, no matter who plays we wont succeed. For example, Chansi Stuckey seemed to be, not an elite receiver but definitely someone the QB can rely on to catch the ball, he comes here and catches 1 ball in his first 6 weeks as a brown. It also seems like when a team is winning the injuries don't come some often, for example just about all of our defensive starers got hurt in the first 3 quarters of the season but on our 4 game winning streak I cant think of 1 injury. IMO, Mike Holmgren is exactly what the doctor ordered. Every football player/coach in the league will admit to win consistently the ball has to be bouncing your way. Holmgren is just the man we need in charge to at the very least just turn out fortunes around, as silly as it sounds. Look at who he's hired so far, we got one of the most respected front office men in the league to leave his home in Miami after 29 years to come here and Heckert Jr who took his name out of the running for the GM spot last year because he knew how badly the organization was being run.

I expect our team to be playing a lot better next year, even without rookie additions.

What curse?

Getting Holgrem does "feel" good. There's the guys he's surrounding himself with, too.

For the first time since we've returned,I believe we have a management competant enough to get it done. And Holgrem isn't done, yet. In his conference he said he wants to bring in more "great" guys,by his estimation.Sounds good to me.Git-R-Dun.

How would you have liked to have been around here in the forties? And how come "four" has a "u",but "forties" doesn't?

In 1948,four Cleveland teams won there Leagues Championship, which has NEVER been duplicated.

We had the Browns,Indians,Barons and the professional "Team Tennis" club, the Nets.(Back then,it was big).(The Nets came back in the mid seventies, with a team that included Bjorn Borg and Martina Navratilova)

The Barons won 27 games in a row,and won the Calder Cup.It doesn't sound like much, but back then there were only six NHL teams, and the Barons drew 10,000 fans a night.

After that,we were named "The City of Champions". Pittspuke has recently tried to steal that name. They were reminded it's ours. Can't they pick another name? They just want to take it away from Cleveland. It's important to toothless,brain-dead backwoods cousin farkers,I guess.

Then,in the fifties, the Browns went to seven Championship games in the NFL,and won 3 of them.
And Otto Graham became the No.1 QB in NFL history, and nobody even comes close. He's the equivalent of  Nolan Ryan to MLB.Or Wilt Chamberlain,in the NBA.He doesn't get enough credit.
He played 10 years with the Browns, from 46 to 55,including all 4 of the AAFC Title seasons, where he was the no.1 ranked player, then beat the LA Rams(why didn't we keep their colors/history?) for the 1950 NFL title, the Browns first in the League(then was MVP of the pro-bowl,which wasn't a showcase, like today)and went on for five more years, ending each season in the NFL Championship game, and won three of six total.Six straight title games,in the NFL.Guess what? Before all that, back in "45",he won the World Championship with the Rochester Royals in the National Basketball League.

   JIM BROWN.

1964,we get our last Championship. Then time catches up,and the balance of nature takes over.

  So,although we've had a crappy half a century,we sure aren't never was's.

I'd say we're due,and again,it could be on more than one front.
