He was exposed.
He missed more tackles this year than ever, took terrible angles, failed to be consistent in deep coverage, and showed how much he relied on a great front 7.
Berry is the best safety, followed by Earl Thomas. Mays will probably be drafted based on upside, in the first round, but not before either Thomas or Mays.
dabrowns41 has his opinion.
The wheels fell off the Trojans chariot this year.Mays was caught in the turmoil.
By the time the combines are done,Mays could go top ten.
If not,the Steelers are interested in him,to replace Clark at FS.Then,he'll have that good front 7,and likely an All-Pro SS by his side(Troy P),and he'll further fortify the Steelers defense.
Just sayin'
We'll find out in April. But there's a good chance Mays falls to the 2nd round with all the talent in this draft.
You're absolutely right about Mays this year.He didn't look near as well as last year. His decision to stay could cost him a bundle. But I think the combines should get him back in good graces with someone willing to take a chance on him.If he is gonna be a bust, let's hope the Steelers do take him.
I just think that with the right team, and the right coaching,he could be a Pro Bowl regular.Ed Reed ain't gonna be around forever.Heck, the Ravens might scoop himup. So he's got that big upside. And how many guys are "sure-things"?
Apparently Ed Reed is contemplating retiring...I'm smiling :)
you do have a point there and I prey to the football god that Berry slips to us and another 1st rounder falls to us in the 2nd to combat that. lol
