Wow.Peppers,Dansby, and Rolle are all off the FA board. The contracts they recieved were considerably large,so the Browns were smart in passing, especially if a new cap is put in place before the 2011 season, which I think is very likely...Peppers got what??? 42mil guaranteed? Over 90mil for 6 years?...Antrel Rolle is now the highest paid safety in NFL history?Dansby gets 22mil guaranteed? The Ravens traded for Anquin Bolden, giving the Cardinals their 3rd and 4th rounders, while the Ravens get the cards 5th rounder.Bolden signed an EXT for 3 years around 25mil.I think Newsome did well in adding a proven  star to a team that needs just a couple of pieces to have a chance at getting back to the Super Bowl...Finally,cross Chad Pennington off the list of "mentors",or "stopgaps" available. He resigned with the Dolphins for 1 year.Jack "crybaby" Delhomme, anyone?Finalier,Brandon Marshall is visiting the Seahawks. No way would they give up one of their firsts, plus their 3rd,for him.Would they? They could give us their 14th pick, plus their 3rd rounder, for our first rounder. They could then draft Dez Bryant, and we could get Earl Thomas or Joe Haden at 14,then have another third rounder.I hope the Browns make sure they're aware of that.Finaliest, why is Cribbs being lumped in with the RFAs that are resigning with their teams?

IIt looks like dansby to Miami and peppers to Chicago was right on. And I know Harrison was running with fresh legs at the end of the season along with running out of the shot gun. This will not be happening this year. This is why I do not know what we have in Harrison yet. I hope he is as good as you think but he is still unproven.
For qb I just want the most accurate. If that is lefever great. But I hear a lot of speculation and I am nervous with what is going on.

True about Dansby and Peppers. But until a free agent visits a club, and they put the offer on the table, and then they call around seeing if anyone wants to bid higher, then they try to bump up the price where their at,etc.,it's anyones guess.Peppers went to Washington first, and ESPN was reporting how he likely would go there, then the next day it's reported he'll visit Chicago. It seems like ESPN likes to "jump the gun",so to speak.I think the big name signings were all steep, and if some teams are willing to throw mega-guaranteed money, the Browns are wise to stand clear.I was surprised by the size of the contracts.Would you want Peppers for what the Bears paid? It was reported that the Browns were interested in Peppers, but not for "the farm".
Harrison didn't play well for just a game or two.He rushed for,I'm guessing, around 560 yds. the last 4 weeks. He showed speed and agility, and ability to run to daylight. And he did it without a passing game to detract the D.That's a biggee. If the passing game can become average,at least,I think Harrison will be fine.Running with 8 men in the box on most downs is difficult for anybody. If they can just get the D in 2 deep zone coverage...........
Lefevour is an accurate QB,with good manuverabilty.Just what the doctor ordered. He had around a 68% completion percentage, last year.
What speculation is making you nervous?
The thing scaring me is us trading(especially if we give up draft picks) for McNabb.Jeeze,we passed on the guy 11 years ago.I don't want to get him, then watch him get mauled, and having the line/blocking scheme get the blame. We need to get our own guy in here, and bring him along with the rest of the offense.
Here's a thought: If we had drafted Kolb instead of BQ back in "07",would we be trying to deal with the Eagles for BQ now?

Harrison is unproven. At the end of the season he did well when everyone had actually been playing all seeason. Just because he did it for four games in a system that will not be the same gives me the idea that we could get someone that is a more proven player. And saying that he is proven after that short amount of time is a little blind.... remember DA. He did it for a full year. Can harrison do it for a full year plus not getting hurt. I just don't think he is a every down back IMHO.
I also was not the one who said he wanted peppers. That was you. I think we are really far away from being relevant in our division. We should not pick up any big time free agents. I am wanting this regime to create some stability at qb wherever that maybe. I actually believe our o line is solid to being a strength for the browns. So I think if the qb gets creamed it will his fault not the oline IMHO.

I never said that you said he wanted Peppers.I said that saying we won't get Peppers,That he'll sign with the Bears, while he's still a FA,is jumping the gun.I don't like it when people jump on the ESPN bandwagon.Sometimes they report things before anyone knows for sure, then just recant when they end up being wrong.Too busy trying to be the first one with the scoop.Like local news, with their "exclusive breaking news",and the "weather first".Who cares?
As for Harrison, don't you thimk he's earned more playing time?I don't want him to get more than 20 carries a game.I think Davis and Jennings deserve a chance to share reps with Harrison, and are fully capable of doing so.I don't want us to overpay for any older guys who won't be here in a few years.I want guys in their prime,at that point.
If we compare Harrison with DA,it's reason to believe he will do well.DA had a great first half of the "07" season. But in the second half, and since,he's reverted back to his old ways of gunslinging.Throwing into double coverage, throwing innacurately, throwing too hard on short passes.Just like when he played college ball.....So if Harrison reverts to his college days,he's gonna carry the load, and rush for 1500 yards a year.
      All I'm hoping for is a 1000 from him,with Davis/Jennings getting another 6 to 8 hundred.
The offensive line needs a RG and a RT before they consider being solid. And the LG is on the trading block, along with  Kamerion Wimbley.
Where did you hear the "breaking news" that we're gonna have a new system? I've never heard Holgrem say that.He kept Mangini, didn't he?He was very proud of the Browns late season surge,so how did you come to that conclusion?.....I think Holgrem is keeping everyone in the dark,as to his intentions,so that other teams will have to guess who we might draft,or want to deal for,and how much he values our current players.

Presuming that the reports that I get are only from espn is is exactly that an assumption which has /made you look like an axx. By the way I was right. Ever think of giving anyone credit for what they get right or are you always gonna have your fake IMHO's.
I am saying I want more than a 1000 yard rusher like a 1400 yard rusher like TJ. Does harrison deserve a shot, maybe? I believe that we should get whoever will make a difference. I believe tj could.
The report about the offense changing came from a dawgs by nature report talking to holgren saying that offense his system has not been implemented, yet. I believe IMHO he is looking to create his system with his ability to find the right qb. If he does not then I think it is a hugh mistake on holmgrems part.

Hey juggernaut, congratulations on knowing for a fact,or correctly guessing, along with the vast majority of NFL onlookers, that Peppers would go to Chicago, along with Dansby going to Miami, before they even got a once over by their prospective teams!!...How's that?
I still don't want Tony Jones, because Harrison would run rings around him in camp. How's that? Not to mention even if TJ came here and ran for 1400yds,it would only take away from Harrison,Davis and Jennings yardage. And playing time.Faneca,Ferguson, and Mangold made him. That's why Leon Washington and Shonn Greene are doing so well.Besides,he's past 30 and a substantial risk, for a RB,at this point in his career. You say he has low mileage, but the last 3 years,he's been handling the load. How many guys run like that from 27-30,and still have their legs?
So I gotta say no thanks to TJ,and the amount it would cost to bring him here.Wouldn't you rather we brought in a rookie from this years draft, and groomed him, along with the rest of the offense?

In Fujita,we get a big, tough, smart veteran with a ring...Sounds like someone the "hoody"(Belichick) would kill for. The Saints boards are giving mixed reviews on his ability to still handle the strong side in a 4-3,but he'll be right at home as a ILB in our 3-4.Nice job!! The contract is reportedley 3 yrs for 14mil,with 8 guaranteed. Not real steep,or overbearingly long, like most FAs are looking for.
The other guy is our new starting RT, 29 year old Tony Pashos. You might remember him from the Ravens. He was their giant RT.He's just what we need there,if his left shoulder is ready. He broke his left shoulder blade(OUCH!!) last season, with the Niners, and missed the last ten games. He must've done well at his physical,to get signed on.He'll get over 10mil for 3 years. Now Pork Chop can move back to LG.They're saying that the two could now be interchangeable, with either being able to play either position. Two good signings in one day!!

In a more disgusting light, the Seahawks have expressed interest in dealing Seneca Wallace to the Browns for Jerome Harrison,(which could clear the way for us to get Tony Jones in here, which I'd still not prefer). If that goes down,I'm gonna be sick.Seneca freakin" Wallace?AAARRRGGHHH!!! I think it's just the Seahawks wishful thinking. They can see Harrison is on the rise:)

Just checked out Seahawks board, they all think Wallace stinks, and will never be a starter in the NFL.They didn't mention Harrison. They were hoping for a 3rd rounder, but most thought that Holgrem would never do that.Someone thought we might have offered a 5th rounder,or maybe even DA straight up for Wallace. The others were right on the bandwagon for bringing DA to them.An even dump, giving both teams a new backup.Of course, they'll have to neg. with DA.What are those Seahawk fans thinking?DA in a West Coast? Most all think Hasselback still has some gas left in the tank.Though I wouldn't want him,we could do worse.

Well,we got "second string" Wallace. All 5'11'' of him.Anyone who thinks he'll start,or even compete to start, has rocks in their head. We're dumping DA,and need a qualified backup. We gave up an undisclosed draft choice in 2011.Why can't they disclose it?Even if it's based on Wallaces making our roster,or his play, you'd think they could disclose it.Farging undislosers. They probably think Wallace might start...

So real do you think they are going to play a form of the west coast yet? Considering they brought in a qb that knows that system to at least teach if not to compete for the job.
I am sure you wont give credit because all the cards are not on the table. You got your wish has been answered with the going to kc for a meesly three mil year one and two in year two. Worth it IMHO.
I must say I love what they have done during this free agency period so far. RT, LB, and a QB that knows the system they will be implementing (I Think).
Anyone have a guess who else is on their radar?

I wonder what our plans for Eric Barton are. Right now it looks like the starting ILBs will be Fujita and D'qwell with Bowens platooning between ILB and Outside. I'd much rather let Maivia be the other backup since he's young and had some good moments last year. With Wimbley, Roth, Bernard, Trusnik and probably a rookie needing to be on the roster I don't see much room for Barton. You'd think we might be able to get a 6th round pick for him?

Drew brees.Good one.Maybe if BQ doesn't show improvement by TC,Wallace could take over.Maybe I do have rocks in my head.I just hoped for better. As long as we draft Lefevour in the third,he should be out there by mid-season,anyway.
I gushed about Tony Pashos earlier, but some are saying he's no longer starter material.Let's at least hope he's a good stop-gap.And he can go to guard.
I don't think the Browns will instill the West Coast offense this year,or they would have let Mangini go.they signed a SLB in a 4-3 in Fujita, but I don't think they'll change their defensive scheme, either.Especially the 2-5-4,and the 0-6-5.Thanks,Mr. Ryan.
I think D'Qwell could be a goner. He was only tendered a second rounder, and in the second half of the second,a team might think he's a no-brainer.The only question left is,will we match it,or take the pick, with so much talent available still.Sorry,D'Qwell, but I'd take the pick.Fujita just made him expendable. It wasn't like he was hitting people at the line of scrimmage.Or on a highly ranked defense.Barton is definitely expendable.I'd take a sixth rounder, just to get him off the payroll.Maybe "the Hoody".
I'm already sick and tired of reading bad press about the Browns trading down last year, when we were so full of holes, and were terrible the season before.People are reporting that the Browns should have taken the "franchise" QB that is Mark Sanchez.
The Jets won by great D,and the O trying not to lose.Mark Sanchez had a lower QB rating than BQ.He is still a question mark coming into this year.Meanwhile the Browns drafted a very solid "ten year guy" in Mack, and saved alot of clams.Money they can used elsewhere. They also picked up a good DL in Coleman, and a  decent SS in Elam. What Mangini saw in Ratliffe,or Veikune, who he took with the second rounder in the deal, just makes ya go "Hmmm?"Plus we have Davis and Francies, who  still  could become solid players. So there.
DA chiming in about the Browns fans being douchebags was wrong. There were some idiots who cheered him getting hurt, and that's not right. But most fans were not happy he got hurt.Just that he would give way to someone who might be more successful. His own play put him on the bus to somewhere else. Two points. One;he did apologize. Two; The guy he sent the E-mail to is a Pittspuke Squealer fan.His name is Jeff Schudel, and he's been writing for the News Herald for years.Browns players know his reputation, and won't give him the time of day.Ever since Hal Lebovitz passed away,he's had a free reign, with Jim Ingraham not caring about the Browns enough to care what he does.I wonder how much instigating Jeffy did to cause DA to get so riled up.He's a venamous little tripe,I conivelling rat faced wicked witch of the west dressed, pontificating pious sack of pond swill, with a bender toward upsurping the Cleveland fanbase by distorting truth and putting the Browns in an unfavorable light.Along with weekly photos of Stealers past super bowl pics.A real vomitoriam of a man,if he could indeed be considered one.It doesn't make up for what DA did.But it puts it in a different light, considering the source.

Hey Real, just heard today that the browns are expected to run the west coast offense this upcoming year from pat kirwin and Jim Miller. This is the reason to get rid of Quinn. That he is inaccurate with the ball. They were also a little skeptical of lefeverbevause of him bulking up to much. Not sure if iknow enough about lefever bit do believe Quinn is not the answer.
I have loved the acquisition of Watson, pashos, and Fujitsu. But the fact they brought on fargis really upsets me they did not bring in Thomas Jones.

I would've loved to have Jones but you cant win them all. So far in this free agency we've added a starting RT, ILB and TE. Heiden was released so I wonder if that means Royal is staying, probably cause he's not due a roster bonus for a year or two. I think adding Fargas would be a good fit so we could have a more legitimate #2 back if Davis or Jennings doesn't keep improving. Bottom line is we've added 3 fairly decent starters and we still have 11 draft picks.

When Holgrem says they'll run the West Coast, then it will happen.Until then, words like "expected" are just a form of speculation.I heard last night that the Browns "likely" offered Delhomme 6-7mil a year to come here. But Holgrem put out a statement saying the Browns aren't ready to trade BQ.That doesn't follow suit with us handing the reigns to Delhomme. There has been alot of talk of Jake coming here to start.I find it hard to believe he'd go play for backup money elsewhere. So why didn't he sign?
Let me get this straight,I wouldn't mind a "West Coast" offense.I just think that Holgrem would have brought in one of his guys to implement it.Why keep Mangini? The only reason I can think of,is so he can take over in 2011.Now we don't have to pay yet another HC who isn't here.On top of the new one.He has said he might return to the sidelines.

           I'm surprised that gobrowns216 didn't defend Lefevour,who he covets.

Do you believe Holgrem when he says that BQ hasn't had a fair chance? There are many QBs who have had similar  starts, and gone on to have stellar careers.I would much rather see BQ out there on opening day than any of the "Jake Delhommes'" out there. The West Coast is a short passing game attack.BQ is fully capable of running it.At least give him a chance.Don't you agree that last year BQ had almost no running game, almost nothing for recievers, and a weak right side of the line? What QBs in the NFL could have succeeded,in those conditions?
I need to clarify myself, again.I would like to see us bring in Lefevour/Pike/Snead.I wouldn't mind us trading BQ,and bringing in Delhomme,or someone like him,to mentor our drafted QB.I wouldn't mind him even starting a few games,if need be.But I'd rather see the draft pick get all the reps in practice, and hope for the best. But if they're planning on starting Jake next year, all year, then I'd rather just keep BQ,and let him start.Seneca Wallace knows the West Coast, and can mentor our draft choice,if they want him to hold a clipboard next year.

As for the Browns signings,or lack thereof,Tony Jones went  so cheap for a reason.I don't doubt he'll do pretty good next year, with the Chiefs likely drafting Okung/Bulaga.I don't doubt he'd do well for us.I just think we either bring in a draft pick, and bring him along, along with Harrison,or  just give our guys here more time. Davis and Jennings are far from slouches. I don't want Fargas.
Our other FA signings,a RT who underwent season ending shoulder blade surgery, who is past his prime,an inside linebacker who is past his prime, and a TE who is also past his prime(Belichick is really good at getting rid of players right before they decline).I think Royal is still a goner.Moore should stick. And maybe Graham in the fourth. He'd fit in good with th West coast"...Those gignings are nice, but I'm not doing cartwheels. We sure could use a proven reciever or two.And pass rushers.I'd rather get  Joey Porter than Jake Delhomme.

I didn't defend Lefevour because it aggravates me that he didn't throw at the combine. I'm hoping it was just terrible advice from his agent, since he threw so well at the senior bowl. But if he throws poorly at his pro day then he will drop a lot.

Seneca Wallace said after his talks with Mangini and Daboll that were not completely running a west coast offense, they're some west coast things but a lot is different "im going to have to learn the offense".

Well I'm not trying to say the free agents we signed our going to be pro-bowlers but Tony Pashos is only 29. Sure he had a season ending injury last year but he is healthy now and should be able to bounce back. I expect us to draft 1 or 2 o-linemen this year, Pashos will do a much better job starting while the rookies learn then St. Clair would. I think that Fujita is our best signing, I think he will be really good for the next 2 seasons. By that time Maivia could develop into a good player and who else knows what could happen. Watson doesnt excite me too much but I'd much rather have him on the field then Royal. Moore and Watson is a lot better then Moore and Royal. I read an article last night saying that the Browns wont sign Fargas.

Let's hope Lefevour drops to our 4th rounder. That's where Holgrem likes to pick QBs,anyway. With Jake "I'm only 35,look at Favre" Delhomme here, for the next two years,he'll have a good mentor.I'm worried already that Jake is gonna get pancaked by no later than October. Our offense will need to do a much better job at protection.
After the Pashos signing,I read that he was no longer starter material. The Cleveland papers were running how we picked up a guy "slated" to start at RT.I won't be surprised if Womack gets the RT job,and Pashos plays RG.So he replaced Fraley.Watson replaced Heiden, and Fujita very well could be replacing D'Qwell, seeing as we only gave him a 2nd round tender. We cut DA and get Wallace. We will likely trade BQ,as his contract makes him a little bit attractive, and we signed Delhomme.I feel like we're just spinning our wheels.I hoped for more, but all the top tier talent is either getting overpaid,or looking to play for contenders....I don't feel so good.I thought Holgrem would attract more above average talent.
If nobody is gonna offer up a first rounder for B.Marshall,I think we should offer up our 2nd,and our middle fifth, for him...That would be a start.

Holmgren has said many times "we have 11 draft picks so the draft is how we plan to do most of our work". I'd save my complaint until after the draft. Did you really expect Julius Peppers to come here? What we seem to be doing this free agency is erasing the cancer that has been a big part of the browns failures in past years. Since 2007 browns fans have been separated between Quinn and Anderson fans, this is not good and now both players will be removed. Delhomme isn't to exciting but we have two really young receivers and will probably be drafting another one so it will make things a lot easier on the receivers if they don't have to worry about balls in the ground or balls sailing out of bounds. And hopefully having Dellhome an experienced QB will make Daboll less conservative.

I'd still like to see us add Tory Holt.
