How do these draft picks make you feel?
Mike Tannenbaum has as much to do with those drafts as Mangini though, so who knows how it will compare to his future drafts. Not trying to discourage, because it's a good review, and really all we have to go on, but what exactly does George Kokinis do for this team?
Right on, Zak.
Good Points.
I'm liking that QB at Arkansas,Mallet, right now. He,or the guy at Washington,Jake Locker.
I'm just wondering if you guys think either of these guys could come to Cleveland, and lead this team, from day 1?I think a new QB is in our near future. Bringing Mack here with our first pick this year looks even better, now.Someone to protect next years first pick.Do you think Mangini had that idea?
Problem is, I'm not sure any QB can be successful on this team right now. We have so many holes, I'm almost inclined to say lets get the foundation of the team stabilized before bringing in another QB. It won't be fun seeing this team flounder another whole year, but it may be what's necessary to put a QB in a good situation so that we may actually be competitive for several years.

I love Mallet's arm, but he's a DA clone when it comes to decision making. The only difference between him and DA is that he knows how to put touch on his short passes.
However, he's a very erratic passer. 1 drive he'll go out and go 7/7 for 80 yards and the next drive he'll go 0/3 with an INT.
Locker is growing on me. He's an athletic kid, with a good arm and solid decision making. With more play makers on his team he'd probably have significantly better statistics, which they aren't bad at all already.
Either way, like Zak stated, we need more players around on this offense if we want our QB to play well.
Unless you put Peyton Manning or maybe Tom Brady in there, you won't get the best production from a QB.
I was wondering what Kokinis is really doing? It seems like hes just a talking head who doesnt talk much.
Personnaly, Im not in love with any of the QB's in this years crop, I agree with building the rest of the team first espeacially since these QB's dont seem like anything speacial.
Despite not knowing how many players Mangini is responsible for theres atleast 12 good picks up there, we have 11 this year so im sure we can make a lot out of them.
In no particular order we need..
RT
RG
TE
DE
LBS
CB
S
QB and WR will also need to be addressed, but idk if getting more WR's on the team is the right thing to do, Im hoping that MoMass and Robo can do well enough this year were signing another veteren will suffice. And we will no more about the QB situation at the end of the year
RT is a good starting point, but if we're gonna pick high enough, and we somehow have our QB set,I'd really like to see us pick up a gamebreaker RB,like Mark Ingraham.Man,he just took over that game against S Carolina.I think that a guy like that that could give the QB not only a running game.but more time to pass, with play-action.
I'd rather take him right now than any RT.We need playmakers.
Unless of course,we decide to get my man,Eric Berry.![]()
We need playmakers, first and foremost. That's inarguable.
Go Browns!!!
I don't think we need to spend first round money on the RT position, more likely second round. I agree, we do need players that will just make big plays and I think with the pick were going to get the player that will be the best option is Eric Berry. Cause we could still gets players like Jonathan Dwyer in the second round or a Charles Scott in the later rounds. I really hope the Braylon trade turns into a second round pick so we can grab a RT and a TE in the second round.
Personally, I would like to see this team draft an OLB or a HB with the first two picks. Try and get a QB in the 3rd or 4th round. Someone that has been in College for four years, since that is one of the good signs. At this guy is smart enough to stay in school, and maybe could be smart enough to read NFL D's.
Problem is, if we're picking where I expect us to, there might not be any OLB or RB 'worth' that high of a pick.
Assuming BQ is our starter next year(that's a biggee,regardless of his pay);
Mangini needs to weigh his options. If Berry is sitting there, with our, say, fifth pick,he needs to see what he can get for the pick.If he can trade down, and get a couple of big needs filled, like a Bulaga, then a Gerhart,I'd have to go that way.Our offense needs fixed yesterday. Then,we can get Mays in the second round,as he's doing so bad now,he'll likely be around. Just ask dabrowns41! ![]()
This draft is STACKED with 34 OLB talent, and I'm confident we'll get a guy like Hughes, Sapp, Wooten, Lang, Graham, Selvie, Cunningham, Wilson, Kirlew, Kindle, Weatherspoon (my favorite), or Norwood.
And I would love Mays in the 2nd. I don't hate the guy, he's just not as good as he's hyped up to be. But he's a top 25 pick for sure simply because a team will draft him based on his physical attributes. He's a guy that could develop into an elite player, but until he learns to play the safety position as it's played in the NFL, he'll struggle, just as he has this year with an average front 7.
Im a big fan of Weatherspoon as well, do you think he'd play inside or outside in a 3-4?
He could play either, IMO. He's great in coverage, but he can get to the passer. He's just a natural leader, and he's fantastic at reading offenses. He's one of the more polished players in this draft.
I'd think he'd go inside but yes im pushing for us to get him
After the MNF game I think its clear were kidding ourselves that we can take Berry or Suh with our first round pick, we need to go offense. Were ganna have a top 3 pick (without doubt). The only players worth that in this draft is the OT Russel Okung or either of the QBs, Locker or Clausen. Other options IMO could be trading down some spots to get more draft picks and pick up Jonathan Dwyer or CJ Spiller. I'll leave it until after the season to start the debate between Locker or Clausen but I think its now obvious that we need to go offense.
At least Maivia had a good game and showed some starting potential
You read my mind.It would be nice to be able to grab one of them, but the Browns offense is the worst since, like, the 1933 Cincinnati Reds, which was a football team, way back in the day.5 TDs in 16 games.
The odds are getting pretty high that we're gonna have Jimmy Clausen as our QB next year.
If he shows up halfway through camp.............
Is there anyway we can get Clausen,Spiller, and Bulaga?
Go Browns!!!
I'm just checking mocks, and some have us taking Suh.I'm really OK with that.
We can still get a Ryan Mathews(RB),and a decent QB who falls(maybe Tony Pike).
There are many options.Whoever is in charge better not screw it up.
