Browns vs. the Black an' Yella
Bad calls and bad officiating, along with the Steelers getting away with picking and holding too much, aside, the Browns should not have been playing so much 2 deep coverage. We've tried that before, and know it doesn't work. That, and blitzing one db,just plays right into pigboys hands(That's Big Ben,in RBF lingo.)When we get them at home,we can't do that.Wright can go man-to-man,and I'd much rather watch Adams at the other corner, than McDonald.I'm done with him.Elam and Poole were too deep, and the middle of the field was open ALL DAY.Talk about making a decent QB look like a god, which we happen to do for pigboy way to often.
On offense, six drops.Would it change much?Doubt it.Leading the recievers,so they can get some YAC would be alot better. The Browns hiearchy has to have figured out by now, that DA isn't the answer, unless the question is"Who is too innacuarate to be an NFL QB"?Or "Who doesn't have the touch of an NFL QB,but starts for the Browns, anyway"?
They're gonna give DA some more time to gel,but if he doesn't get his act together quick, like when BQ can't hit his bonus anymore, they better get BQ back out there.Or trade one of them for Clemens.C'mon Mangini.I want Clemens!I'd rather see what he can do,than watch DA work on it.
DA said before the game, that he practiced firing the ball at the recievers from ten yards away,in order for them to be better recievers.OMG!Why the heck doesn't Daboll,or Mangini make DA PRACTICE THROWING THE BALL with some finesse, some touch.like ANY GOOD QB can!
I heard the announcer, praising DA whenever possible, and knocking the drops.Sure, they're catchable, and should be caught. And giving him credit for that long pass to Mass(coming along great),saying that's why he's the starter. But we all know that DA needs to fix his shortcomings, and FAST,or he's history.
I thought the team did good, for what they were given, playwise.Special teams did very well, with my main man getting his TD return, and some "wildcat play".But that "wildcat" was too vanilla,IMHO.I thought DA should have sat out,not just go to the far sideline. That was a sucker D,that fooled Cribbs into throwing the pick.Clearly,he wasn't prepared for that.If they want to continue the "wildcat",they need to practice more, and get another running back out there,in lieu of DA.
Gotta run.
Go Browns!!!
My notes for the game:
First of all what most pissed me off was the officiating...Not only was the first down call the biggest joke I have ever seen but Im sure all of you have noticed the 'roughing the passer' penalties called against us about ever week, because of not hitting the QB but because they took the QB all the way to the ground. A. Thats a dumb rule B. I saw it happen to us at least twice and it was never called. I'm sick of watching ESPN when they talk about the browns and I'm sick of listening to announcers talking about the browns its driving me crazy.
The offense-Unless he changes completely throughout the rest of the year i don't want Daboll on this coaching staff next year. The Shotgun was invented for passing plays when the offensive line is having trouble blocking the rush defense, that is exactly what was happening in this game but we never went to the shotgun, i don't understand it. And I think we should tell Daboll that although its common to run on first down its not a rule that you have to do it every time...While I was watching the offense I though to myself this is what my Middle school team looked like..Twins right, Twins left, run up the middle where there's no room, don't pass cause the receivers cant catch. I like Daboll as a person and im sure he was a fine QB coach but dont let him call plays. As far as DA's performance goes, unless the drop balls and play calling improves he cant be successful, with that said the 2 fumbles and the Int are ridiculous, if he keeps that up he'll be gone but the game isn't totally his fault. And going into next week my opinion stands that Robiskie should get more reps he has the most sure hands on the team.
The defense- It pains me to watch the offense because I want to use the draft picks on the defense so badly. It pains me to watch Barton rush the QB, he is terrible. He's a good sure tackler but he cant rush the passer which is why we have to watch the DB's do it all the time. The only starter worthy DB on this team is Pool, im not saying hes amazing but hes good enough. Wright is really good in coverage but the man can not tackle, its like watching a toddler trying to tackle men. I like Adams a lot if the rest of our defense was up to par he would be a great NB. Elam is a backup at best. As a matter of fact with all this said from here on out I'm going to start campaigning for Coye Francies to get on the field! He has great size and showed all pre-season long he can not only hit but hit hard. Get him on the field and lets see what he can do. Why would we need 11 draft picks next year if were not going to play them.
Good post,gobrowns216.
As for Daboll,I believe the answer lies somewhat in the fact that he coaches from the sidelines.I would definitely make him get up in the booth. You ever watch a game from the sidelines? He could get a much better view. But that's just a start. He's gotta a ways to go,once he gets his butt up there.
The D?I'm all for Coye Francies, too.I think our safeties were playing too deep, out of fear of Wallace.
What's troubling is watching Andra Davis playing for the Broncos. We gave up him for Barton?
Remember I remarked about how sad it was to see Barton run right by Orton, who isn't very mobile?Last night,he sure didn't fool Davis.
So,we gave up K2,Davis,and BE.I wonder if we'd be better with these guys. There are many ways to go up,or down.We seem to be taking a path to who knows where.
Like Master once told grasshopper,"Patience, grasshopper",we're gonna have to give Mangini some room, and some patience, before we chase him out of town.![]()
As for the eleven picks,Mr.Mangini is looking to trade Kamerion Wimbley, and Corey Williams.Williams was coming on,and a reason we were getting pressure on the QBs.He gave us much needed depth. But as a backup,,he's overpaid. It'd be nice to get a second rounder. As for Wimbley,I just think that's stupid.Unless someone wants to give up a first rounder.
Go Browns!!!
It would help to have Daboll in the booth but that doesnt change the fact hes to predictable and doesnt make enough changes.
I think people don't give the K2 trade enough thought. He missed so many games in the years he was here and although he was productive he wasn't perfect and he had a terrible attitude. K2 would've went into training camp wanting a new contract and wouldnt have played without one, if we gave him one everyone else who wants one would need to get one, adding more hectic to the locker room. I thought it was a good move its just unfortunate we have no one to replace him although thats not Mangini's fault.
I doubt theres any truth to those rumors and nonetheless it didnt happen
