Braylon Edwards traded
Braylon Edwards is traded to the Jets for WR Chansi Stuckey and LB Jason Trusnik and 2 draft choices.
Chansi Stucky 6'0 196- The number 2 receiver for the Jets has 11 rec for 120 yds and 1 td this season. Obviously Mangini knows this guy, he's smaller then Edwards but has similar production this season. He's a young receiver and lets face it Edwards was gone at the end of the season.
Jason Trusnik 6'4 250- Its intriguing to look at him and think we got a decent LB that could maybe start on our defense, but that does not seem to be the case with Trusnik. He's known to be a special teams ace, he forced a fumble against Tennesse which helped win the game.
The draft choices are undisclosed
Well my thoughts on the trade are unsure, I new Braylon was going to be gone at the end of the year and I wasn't sure what we could get for him. My guess was not much. Braylon obviously just started more off the field issues and may face a suspension, I like trading him but what did we get in return? I don't know much about Stucky but he seems like just a little above average receiver. Our special teams has always been good and I think now there great, I like getting Trusnik. The draft choices are rumored to be a 3rd and a 5th round pick but there could be no truth to that. Thats the only part that is a little unsettling to me. You would've thought we could get a 2 and a 3 or atleast a 3 and a 4.
However Braylon was obviously going to be off the team next year so we will have to wait and see how the players we get for him play out (including draft picks). I'm thinking that now that we don't have anyone commanding a double team we will need more pure route running meaning Robiskie should see more playing time over Cribbs.
Anyone know if there's a cap penalty for trading Edwards?
Ps- Michael Crabtree signed with the 49ers
ESPN just confirmed that it is a 3rd and a 5th round pick but the 3rd round pick can turn to a 2nd round pick if Edwards achieves certain numbers
Still processing the trade, not sure what I think yet. Perhaps is was a necessary move, but boy is this team unsexy.
We didn't need anything we got for a guy who was an elite wide reciever.I'm super PO'd.Just like the dumping of K2 before the season, this move is atrocious. The homos in Pittsburgh are laughing there arses off, now. We might have beat them this year. Not now.
I hope that Shaq is a bust, which is exactly what he looked like last night, and the Cavs and that a-hole who everybody is so in love with, almost accumulatively as much as he loves himself, gets the thrill of walking off the court, and not shaking hands with the winners, again.
Mangini can kiss my arse at high noon on main street. He's tossed out the two most productive guys in DAs arsenal, and replaced them with who knows mediocrity.Let's see how many catches Massaquoi has with no BE to cover. Let's see how much closer the safeties play to the line of scrimmage.Good luck,Harrison at getting 5yd bursts.they'll be 2 now.F'ing F F F F...(If he would have just broke up that pass from DA against the Ravens, instead of worrying about himself,Mangini would probably have kept him.
)
BE ups; Could be a perrenial all-pro.Could go get balls most can't .Attracted double-teams,freeing up others sometimes.Great blocker, downfield.Loved doing it.Worth a no.1 in any deal.
downs;Gave up on balls when he should have converted to defender, dropsies, supposed off-field antics.Would have taken alot to re-sign him.
OK,Now that that's off my chest, maybe we should get Patten back here,so we a legit deep threat.Or maybe get Robiskie out there,at the no. 1 reciever slot.I don't want to see MASS change right now. He's doing so well at the 2 spot.Bench that beeotch we just got.No timing w/DA.
It really bothers me that Mangini dealt with the Jets.I'll bet the Eagles/Giants didn't even know he was available. And gave BE away for basically a third and a fifth round pick. We're getting robbed by our own Head Coach.
BE will make Sanchez much better, and they'll make the playoffs, and maybe win the Super Bowl.
BE will be in this years All-Pro game, and more.Good for him.He deserves better than this crappy Browns team.Go BE!
This whole BE year has gone down wrong.I want my head coach to be able to work with our players, and make them want to be a part of our team.I think BE was a very loyal guy, with a great career still in front of him.A needed piece to a CLE Super Bowl contender.Well, the Cleveland Browns just slipped up again,IMHO.
Go Browns!!!
I need to process this more, too. If he's gone, and we get a second and a fifth,....football has changed (sigh).
I couldn't disagree more. Obviously your right its going to be harder. But I think it was doing more bad then good to have him on the team. He wasn't going to be on the team next year, he was taking reps away from our young guys and wasn't doing anything with his plays. And one HUGE down you forgot to mention is Braylons terrible attitude. Without Braylon we will see what our young receivers are truly about but Stuckey is not a bum. I think our offense will look more like Denver's now, by spreading the ball around to a lot of different receivers. But your right, simply by having Braylon on the field it will help the run with safeties being afraid, we will have to see how we respond. But in the long term I believe this trade is good for the Cleveland Browns.
I walked in the room, saw BE was traded, and came right here.I was shocked, and now it's settled in.
What bites is that BE might be great elsewhere, but he wasn't going to be here.Do you blame the student,or the teachers? He was leaving,if a the players agreement was extended,by March. If not,he would have still been a restricted free agent.
He was depicted by our beloved media as being a baby, but they were sensationalizing, just to make better copy. They never let up on him.On his list of reasons that the Browns are better off without BE,Terry Pluto notes that BE was drinking with Stallworth just hours before the accident. What the heck is that? It's also noted that he has a speeding ticket.WOW!Also,he argued with DA,and took no responsibilty for his drops. What a bunch of crap.He didn't like fans booing him for being a Wolverine.I was there, and Browns fans were booing him,and chanting "Michigan sucks!"at him in his SECOND year.He should've blew that off.But it bothered him.So that's a fault. Now,he allegedly pops a friend of LeBron,so he's stepped too far, this time?I heard today on the radio that it was someone else who punched that friend.Who knows?
From a football only standpoint,BE didn't deliver, and this year is a bust,so why not get something for him, before he leaves anyway. That's the best Mangini can do.
What can he get for Poole? Two more special teamers and a sixth, from the JETS,of course.
Go Browns!!!
p.s.You're not allowed to say I couldn't disagree with you more, followed by agreeing with me.That's contradictory, and therefore illegal by the Queensbury Rules. It says right here, that as penalty, you must flick your own nose, until your eyes water. No cheating.![]()
Something I heard yesterday that I didn't know about Braylon was his dad also went to michigan for football. Braylon's reputation in HS was so bad that BE's father had to beg Lloyd Carr to recruit him, and while he was there he came close to getting kicked off the team twice. I think Braylon will have a good rest of the season and ironically we should root for that so we can get a 2nd round pick but next year when he gets his new contract i just think NYC will be to much for him.
The coincidence of the day yesterday was when we traded Braylon, later on espn reported that Dez Bryant is ineligible for the rest of the season and he was my first choice to replace Braylon in the draft. Lets hope the group of young receivers can produce
ps-haha i realized i worded it stupid but didnt feel like going back and changing it
While the trade was probably necessary, the timing is awkward, and compensation just doesn't satisfy me. We sold when the price was basically the lowest it's been in two years. The players we got will barely impact the shape of this team.
If they we're going to give up on this year, then why not give Quinn more than 2.5 games? Maybe his contract did play a role after all.
What I do know is, for a team in need of playmakers, we just lost one.
I don't understand, either,Zaklco.Mangini should have waited for the current incedent to pass before dealing him,if that was effecting the deal.We should have received more than he was worth, seeing as the Jets needed a guy to help bring Sanchez along, and he could help them get to the promised land.Mangini sure is a nice guy,to his former ballclub.I read where Mangini said Stuckey could start. Why?We have Furrey already.I sure hope to see Robo starting, and playing Edwards role. That is a no-brainer to me,after watching him at the OSU.He could keep the defense more honest than playing Stuckey as a wide-out.And definitely get BQ back out there.I'd have him start this week, against a lesser team.He did face some very good defenses.See if he can meld with Robo,Mass,Harrison,etc...There is one problem.BQ wore orange shoes to practice,in honor of his lost teammate, and it's being said that he's on the chopping block, too. What's available on the Jets roster?Looks like we can expect Eric Ainge, and their sixth rounder.Or we'll give them back their third/second from the BE deal, and give them our fourth, and fifth in the BE deal, and then we'll swap spots in the seventh round, and they'll give us Clemens, and their fourth round pick.Something along those lines. Then Sanchez and BQ can do "Dynamic Ambiguously Gay Duo" commercials, like the cartoon skits on Saturday Night Live.
Go Browns!!!
p.s.Harrison is doing great, but I'd like to see Jennings get more of the reps.Maybe we can deal Lewis to the Jets for blah blah.Maybe BQ and Lewis for Clemens and blah blah. Why not?
Well I disagree with the timing being wrong. Obviously his value is as low as it can get for him but the trading deadline is week 6 and any day now Braylon can be suspended. Stuckey has potential to help this team for years its basically like we drafted him ourselves a year ago, and we needed more draft picks and we got them. So root for BE to have a good year so we can get a 2nd instead of a third.
Now we have to hope that last years draft was good in the Robo and Massaqoui can fulfill there potential. If they can do that along with having Stuckey and Furrey thats a lot of weapons and don't forget about Cribbs on the trick plays. We saw in Denver what having a lot of weapons can do for the run game too.
Thanks for the pep talk. You're right.I think we should have got more for him,but that's what I thought about K-2 also.By the way K-2 had a very good game,2 TDs,lots of catches.Too bad the rest of the team stinks. We definitley could use BEs help on getting that 2nd rounder.Anyone know the details of what he has to do?Make the Pro-Bowl?I hope that's not it.More like say 8 TDs, and 600+ yds. recing.Something he's capable of,in his range. We should have got that, flat out.I think we had to take Stuckey.
FYI
If Edwards catches 55 passes, the conditional third-round pick in the trade improves to a second.

I give it a 35% chance that he catches 55 balls with his consistency issues.
Good find. whats he at now?
On monday night they said something about needing 6 td catches?
I think he has 8 catches as of now, so he needs to average 4.7 catches per game the rest of the year.
It could happen, lets hope they have a couple monday night games left.
