Will BQ get bonus?
According to BQs' contract,he'll need to play 70% of the teams snaps,in order for his 11mil bonus to kick in.Unless the Browns are in position to reach the post season,I think they'll bench him, provided he makes it to the eleventh/twelvth game as the starter. This could become a very sticky situation.Let's hope we're doing so good, this isn't an issue.
Go Browns!!!
We're ~$20 million under the cap. The escalators are spread over the 2010 and 2011 seasons. If he wins the job, it'll mean he earned it throughout this QB competition, and the coaches feel he is the guy to lead the team. When was the last time a player was benched to save money? And you think Quinn's agent wouldn't have a fit if the team did something like that, it'd be terrible publicity. I think this is a non-issue.
non-issue
You don't bench players to save money. You bench players if they aren't playing well.
Especially a young guy like Brady. He needs all the experience he can get, and it's not going to benefit the coaches to sit him if he's doing average or better just to save cap space.
He'll be benched if he's losing us games. Not because he will make money.
That's exactly what I mean.If we're losing, and he's the starting QB,does anyone think they won't be blaming him?If he plays great, and pulls out victories,it'll be fine and dandy, but if they fall from playoff contention, don't think for a second that money won't weigh in on it.
Go Browns!!!
If we lose and he's a big part of it, he could be benched. However, it is possible for us to lose games with good QB/offensive play.
Regardless, I think it'll take him playing absolutely horrible in order for him to be benched, assuming he wins the role.
I think the leash will be a bit shorter,if we're out of contention. To say the money won't have anything to do with it is naive, IMO.
Q: Do you think Corey Williams salary will weigh in the decision to start him at DE?
Does Corey Williams have a contract based on what percentage he plays?
Go Browns!!!
I was assuming that you were comparing BQ and Corey.I don't think that was a big leap.
I think that Coreys' big contract could have him out of here sooner than if he had a deal closer to his worth.I hope he improves, and the point is mute.
As for your direct question,I don't think Corey will start or not based on his contract.
I also believe that it's not relevent,and therefore,off topic,and you should have
started a new thread,as stated in the Marquis of Queensbury rules of posting.
You know Manginis just going to start "his" guys, anyway.Just 'cause. ![]()
Go Browns!!!
Regardless, my point is that a players salary, or potential to earn money, should have absolutely no bearing on their amount of playing time. If Mangini is counting the number of snaps Brady takes all season to ensure he can pull him before he hits 70%, there are much larger problems with this team than paying a guy his bonus.

New coaches, new GM. They weren't the one who gave Quinn the contract.
This team wants to win and they will play the best players. They also aren't going to sit somebody just because he's going to make some money. If we couldn't afford it, Savage and Co. would have never signed him to that figure in the first place.
We want these players to make money, because that means they have been playing well.
We aren't going to sit somebody just so he doesn't make money.
It's alot of money.Don't believe me.It's inconsequential,anyway.
Until you show me a legit scenario when a young player has sat because he was going to make money, I won't believe you.
Good luck with that. It's not going to happen lol. Your anti-Quinn bias shines again.
You'll never get it.Or you don't want to.Inconsequential.
You just let me know when you find me a real life situation in which that has happened in the last 10-15 years.
Well,I'm certain that BQ won't get his money now.But I'm sure you'll argue that the bonuses he would have recieved didn't weigh in on it.Believe me,BQ might get back out there for the Browns, eventually, but they will not let him hit his bonuses.Unless a miracle happens, and the Browns are in playoff contention, which is what I've been saying all along. But you won't admit it.It's inconsequential.
Go Browns!!!
We will find out. If DA plays bad and stays in, we'll know that they are just trying to be cheap.
If DA plays bad, and Quinn is put back in, then we'll know that Quinn's benching was due to Mangini wanting to see if this offense could get a spark.
If DA plays well, we will never know and can only speculate.
I dont know if I think this means anything but i read that Marvin Lewis (benglas coach) said he was expecting DA to start. Im sure if you look on the coachs film you will see Quinn missing open recievers
