Lions and Curry have deal, wait on Stafford
According to a league source, the Detroit Lions have completed contract terms with Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry and the team is now waiting to see if it can reach an agreement with their No. 1 target, Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The source said the Lions will not allow a decision to go beyond Friday and if a deal isn't done with Stafford by then, the team will sign Curry and take him with the first overall draft pick.
Smart move by the Detroit GM (I didn't think I'd be saying that) to try to leverage Stafford into a lesser deal. Now does Stafford try his luck later in the draft? It could cost him millions ala Brady Quinn.
I think Stafford signs, and Curry just may fall to #5.
Curry still would have 3 teams to get by,but it's still a toss-up who each want.He could make it to 5.It would be interesting if Curry is still on the board, and we get offered two or three picks to trade down.
IMO i think the lions should be signing Smith, but who cares about them.
If the Lions go for Curry, then you may as well just send DA's bags a packin' for their other first round pick.
In some ways, I want Curry to go #1, just so we can get rid of DA's sorry butt.
Thatd be great, go Curry at 1!
It's official, and I think Stafford now has more money than just about everyone in Detroit. Stafford will get $41.7 million guaranteed, and anyway between $42 million to $48 million total (with incentives, there are a few conflicting reports). WOW.
That's ridiculous. Detroit is extremely stupid.
Any other draft, he's a late first, early 2nd round QB, just like Sanchez.
Agreed, terrible job on Detriots part, imo. I think they should've gotten Smith then getting the best Qb next year giving them a great o-line, calvin johnson, and a franchise qb.
Yeah, they should have went Smith or Curry.
