Grossi: Browns Pass on Crabtree, Like Raji

The Browns have all but crossed off Michael Crabtree as a candidate for the No. 5 overall pick, said a source.

The Texas Tech receiver brought a diva attitude on his visit to the club facility last week and did not impress coach Eric Mangini and others, the source said. In fact, Crabtree was described by some in the building as "not nice." After Crabtree left, Mangini secured last-minute workouts with borderline first-round receivers Hakeem Nicks of North Carolina, Kenny Britt of Rutgers and Mohamed Massaquoi of Georgia

Doesn't sound like a 'Mangini' guy to me.  But its Grossi, so who knows?

Another quote to note...

Boston College defensive tackle B.J. Raji is back on the rise after reports of a positive drug test proved false. He's very much in the mix with the Browns at No. 5. Drafting Raji might result in more four-man fronts for the Browns. Also, Shaun Rogers would move to right end in the base 3-4 front.

I really prefer Raji, honestly. Rogers moves to the side Wimbley comes off of, and we still have a stud NT.

It's a win-win situation. I'm such a hardcore DL guy, it's crazy.

Read where it says "source".Notice what fans think about that trash. That source forgets that Mangini last week said that he had a great meeting with Crabtree. It was my basis for switching back to Crab from Maclin. When I first heard of Crabtrees being like TO,I was against that.
The reason Raji is climbing boards has to do with the fact that the media attacked his reputation wrongly, and could be held liable,if he were to take a huge fall. So,now he's a great choice, and no worries. And Grossi runs with it.
We'll find out Saturday afternoon what's up.

It could have to do with our inability to trade BE,at least until after we pick at 5.

Now it's on that Percy harvin tested pos. for the hippie lettuce.
And I saw something bad about Hakeem Nicks.

dabrowns41; are you a 4-3,or a 3-4 guy?Guys I know who love defense,especially a strong line,prefer a 4-3.

According to everything I've heard, Maclin is rated higher on the Browns board than Crabtree now.

Where in the heck did you hear that????

The only guy I know who is saying that is AL Davis. The whole coaching staff there prefers Crab, but Davis likes Maclins speed.

I just saw,the Giants want to give us their 2+5,while we want Mathias Kewanooka (DE)and their first. Therefore, unless we get them to come up,we will keep BE,and go elsewhere with the first pick.
1st and 3rd is the value they put on BE.

i'd call the Giants bluff and keep Edwards if they don't give us Kiwi and a 1st then tag him next year if he does good.

Ive been rooting for this for the last week and a half now I think Raji will do great for our defense and is a much more sure thing the Orakpo.

I saw an interview with Crabtree on NFL network last night .He said that Mangini is a great coach, and he thought the interview went great. He said  he didn't pay attention to everything being written.
Then the interviewer showed opposing stories in the Plain Dealer that he said were both in that days paper. He showed the one that said how happy the team was,and how enamored, and in love with Crab they were.I think that was from last week.Maybe they re-printed it.Then they showed the article that Zaklco posted.
If they did indeed cross Crabtree off their list,it's because they couldn't deal BE.To bash Crabtree over it,just sounds like trash. That's the kind of stuff that ruins players reps, before they even get their pads on.

Well, if a deal for Braylon is going to happen, it will Saturday if the Giants don't think they can get a player they want at #29.  Still, I think all the conflicting reports are a result of the Cleveland media simply having nothing to go on, and not being much more than a blog network right now.

I agree with that, zaklco. And if the Giants wait until we can't get a WR to replace him,he's probably staying.Even though he's not at voluntary workouts.Unless Mangini just wants to cut ties regardless. And he didn't do a "Winslow".
The Browns counter offer of BE for Kiwi and their 1st shouldn't offend BE.Just like Mangini said,"I'm not shopping anyone, but if the phone rings,I'll listen to offers."And that was a counter offer I could live with.It doesn't mean I don't back him, when everyone says he can't catch,it doesn't mean he doesn't have ALOT of fans here behind him,it just means that he is a commodity, and the TEAM comes first.
And if you stay here in Cleveland, you better catch the dang-a-blang ball!!!

           Go Browns!!!

The Giants know that were not getting any other offers so they don't have to make a better offer then a 2nd and a 5th, until they get really desperate like a day before the draft. But even then i don't know if they will give up Kiwi, maybe Manningham and a 3rd which if I'm ManKok, I don't take.

If we end up getting Kiwi and a first then I'm ready to put all my faith in Mankok. I'd even take Kiwi and a second.

I've been saying I don't think Braylon will be traded for a little while.  I don't see there being a run on WR, as most of the second tier (who the Giants would be looking at) have issues that should make a few slide.  There doesn't seem to be any other teams interested, except maybe the Eagles, and no one is going to give up what we're asking for.  Also, I really don't make much of him not being at these workouts, the ones in about a month are a different story.
